This year marks the 10th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, which was held from July 17th-21st in Miami Beach, Florida. This is THE event for nylon, spandex and polyester creations that are to be walked along the most famous beaches in the world. IMG Fashion first brought their catwalk expertise to South Beach in 2004. By offering a platform for swim designers to debut their resort collections, the partnership between IMG and MBFW has turned Miami into a center for both emerging and established labels.
Miami is a fashion capital for several reasons. It has warm weather year-round, it boasts luxury boutiques and designer stores, and it is known as an international center of commerce.
Latin inspirations, sexy cheeky bikinis and sheer tunics sizzled on the runways. Thousands of buyers and designers were on the look for the season’s must-have trends. Many industry insiders view Miami Swim Week as a must-visit. It’s the biggest show of the year for swim vendors, all the way from South America to Europe.
This year, the runway lineup included Wildfox Swim, We Are Handsome, Beach Bunny featuring The Blonds, Mikoh, L*Space by Monica Wise, Luli Fama, Suboo, 6 Shore Road, Mara Hoffman, Dolores Cortés, Poko Pano and others.
In the last 10 years, over 200 designers have unveiled their swim collections on the runway to nearly 100,000 attendees. This year, there were 10,000 guests who attended the whirlwind of runway shows, which were based at The Raleigh Hotel, along with the accompanying late night parties, poolside soirees, and much more fun!
