Mercer’s Dairy, a New York state-based, locally run ice cream factory, has been around for over 60 years, and their wine ice cream has been around since 2007. So why is it just getting popular now?
Social media, folks! Yes, what is potentially one of the greatest inventions of all time has been hiding from us, and now that the word is out (and all over Twitter and the web), there’s no escape. It’s bound to be a huge success amongst millennials and their divorced parents everywhere if Mercer’s can keep up with production.
The best part? This isn’t just wine-flavored ice cream, it’s wine-induced ice cream. Real ice, real cream, and real wine! The product is 15% buttermilk and approximately 5% alcohol by volume. Flavors include Chocolate Cabernet (genius), Port (yum), Cherry Merlot (original), Peach White Zinfandel (for bae), Red Raspberry Chardonnay (for mom), and Riesling (misunderstood), among others. And of course, customers must be 21 years or older to purchase.
Wine ice cream is perfect for all occasions: the holidays, dates, breakups, Friday nights, week nights, or even just for snuggling up on the couch with your favorite TV show. Why make two trips to the fridge when you can just enjoy your wine and ice cream all in one?
