The internet is a place where people dispense their darkest emotions, and one of the darkest trends we’ve seen in recent years is the emergence and growing popularity of revenge porn.

For those of you who haven’t experienced or heard of revenge porn, it’s a form of online harassment whereby someone distributes private, often nude photos of their ex partners without their consent — typically out of anger or revenge. The photos then quickly spread to different forums and websites that specialize in hosting them, and are often accompanied with identifying information such as the victim’s name, meaning that when the name is Googled — say for a job interview or  by someone else who might be interested in dating them — the nude photo would appear. Only 18 states have created laws expressly applicable to revenge porn, and getting your photos taken down can be near impossible…
