Don’t be ashamed of your stinky home, I’m right there with you. There are easy ways we can fix our smells! The windows to my apartment are painted shut, so I can’t properly air out my place. Sometimes I’ll come home to some funky funk if I forget to take out the garbage. Well, no more! With these tips and tricks, I’ll have a house that Martha Stewart would be jealous of. Bonus: They are all-natural!

1. Stinky fridge?

An open container of baking soda really does work! Change it out every month. The best part is that a box costs about a dollar or less.

2. No candles? No problem!

Boil a pot of water with a couple of cinnamon sticks for thirty minutes. You’re house will smell delicious. You can also use rosemary sprigs if you have them on hand (or in your neighbor’s yard).

3. White vinegar

My mom used this trick whenever she cooked fish. She would just place a small bowl of white vinegar on the kitchen counter. You can also place a bowl of it in the corner of a room. In a few hours, your mystery smell will be gone.

4. Bathroom funk?

We keep suggesting essential oils for various uses for your home and body. You should really pick a few inexpensive bottles from the health food store or online. Place a few drops of your favorite scent on the inside of your toilet paper roll. The cardboard will absorb it and release the scent until your roll is finished!

5. DIY air freshener

Keep those empty cleaning product spray bottles! Make your own Febreeze type spray using lemon or lime juice, water, and baking soda. The recipe? Equal parts of everything. Shake well and store in the fridge.

6. Carpet stank?

Sprinkle some cinnamon powder and then vacuum as normal.
