The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology honored Carolina Herrera with its 2014 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion. The Award Luncheon, which benefits The Museum at FIT, was held at Lincoln Center and marked the beginning of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Each year a panel of journalists, retailers, curators, and fashion historians choose an honoree based on the individual’s impact on fashion over the breadth of their career.
Carolina Herrera is a beautiful addition to the line up honorees celebrated years past. Her exquisite sense of style and commitment to sophisticated elegance has earned her international acclaim. Carolina Herrera creates elegant, beautiful clothes that she wears herself. She is her own best model and many women today want to look just like her.
The high-profile ceremony included attendance from Ralph Lauren, Renee Zellweger, Lucy Liu, Ivanka Trump, Donna Karan, Martha Stewart, Anna Wintour and Star Jones. Seth Meyers presented the award saying, “So it is really truly my honor to introduce someone who I am not only just incredible impress with professionally but is also… if you kind of been lucky enough to meet her… one of the kindest people I know. So please welcome and give a big round of applause to Mrs. Carolina Herrera.”
Carolina Herrera finalizes her speech quoting, “Fashion is a dream that becomes a reality and with this award in my hands I want to thank you all.”
Her Spring/Summer Collection 2015 will be presented September 8th, at The Theatre on Lincoln Center at 10 am.
