So let’s admit it, we all have guilty pleasures. For me, it’s pretzels; others, it’s cupcakes. Today — it might just be donuts.
And though we do our best to avoid the salty and sweet treats, sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. And that’s okay. Life is about enjoying the small things.
So how do you burn off those guilty pleasure calories fast?
Here it is, if you want to enjoy a sweet snack once in awhile, say on donut day when so many places are offering free donuts, here’s what you do: Walk!
Simple as that. If you want to enjoy a treat, walk to it. Walking burns a lot more calories than you think. And if you do it right, your body won’t even know you ate that donut.
The best walking tricks to burn calories:
If you want to get the most from walking, there are a few simple tricks that will help.
Boost the heart-rate
First, before you walk, you want to get your heart-rate pumping. Make this happen by either doing a set of jumping jacks (30 seconds worth should about do it), or start at a speed walk until your breath quickens.
Time Your Walk
Walking 30 minutes can burn about 200 calories. So time your walk to sync with the amount of calories you need to burn off. If you’re grabbing a donut, you need to burn about 350 calories. So try a 45 minute walk. That might seem like a long time, but if you split it up (walk to the donut shop and back), it’s really not that bad.
Enjoy the Walk
Don’t think of your walk as exercise. Think of it as a time to relax, relieve some stress, and view the sights around you. Enjoy the weather (even if it’s cold or rainy). Embrace it! Life is better when you enjoy all the small things with the guilty pleasures.
That’s it. Now get out there and enjoy yourself a sweet snack.
This is all you need to do to enjoy those simple pleasures…
