5 Reasons Why Diet Soda is Sabotaging Your Weight Loss

I’m sure you have heard it before, soda is bad. But why?

It wasn’t until I tested these theories myself that I drank the “soda is bad” Kool-aid.

So why does it have to taste so good?

Last year I went on an all inclusive vacation. I thought to myself, hey, I work hard, I deserve a few diet sodas, right? Um….it only took me 2 days to get back to my minimum 6-pack a day habit after 3 years of rarely drinking them. Now I know why!

So to educate you, and continually remind myself, here are 5 reasons why soda is bad for you:

1. It’s Full of Artificial Sweetener.

My arch nemesis! It’s zero calories, so why is it so bad? Aspartame is 200x sweeter than sugar, which over time can dull our sense to natural sugar. All of a sudden fruit isn’t sweet enough, our coffee needs more sugar and things with real sugar just don’t taste as sweet. These substitutes have the same effect on your body as sugar, triggering insulin which leads to fat storage. Hello cravings! Not good…
