Some people think we’re becoming an overly protective and overly politically correct society. That we coddle our kids and shield them from society and reality. It’s hard not to argue with ridiculous cases like this come into the spotlight.
Six-year-old Malachi Miele was suspended from his Catholic school in Cincinnati, Ohio. What could cause any school to punish a boy that young? Was he fighting with another kid? Did he threaten a teacher? Nope. It was something completely innocent that any six-year-old with an normal imagination does: He pretended to shoot an imaginary bow and arrow at other students during recess. Let me repeat that: IMAGINARY.
Malachi’s father Matthew shared his outrage through a Facebook post last week. “What I find unacceptable is that this school is so scared that they are unable to distinguish the difference between a credible threat and a six-year-old boy pretending to be a Power Ranger, playing with an imaginary bow and arrow.” he wrote.
