We're sorry? Ey?

Ah Nickelback, the band everyone loves to hate. While we have so many jokes about them in our back pocket, it’s generally understood that you treat them like your little sibling; yes, it’s all in good fun when the jokes come out, but when someone tries to mess with them, it’s definitely not okay. What did they ever do to you? Besides make your ears bleed? (I kid, I kid).

Nickelback’s drummer, Daniel Adair, has recently become the victim of identity theft. Forty-five-year-old Lee Howard Koenig used his information to try to purchase almost $25,000 worth of drum microphones. Alright, you gotta hand it to him, if you’re going to steal an identity to buy a crap ton of drum mics, do it with someone who has reason to buy a crap ton of drum mics, but with a drummer that not a lot of people pay attention to. It’s genius really. Even better, all Koenig did was research band drummers that had sets identical to his and Voila! identity stolen.

A security specialist noticed that the email address used for the purchase didn’t belong to Adair. After notifying the police, they used his IP address to track down Koenig’s Port St. Lucie address. He was arrested but released on $18,750 bond.

Adair first joined Nickelback in 2005, but many don’t know this was after playing with 3 Doors Down for three years. What do you think about this situation? Let us know and be sure to SHARE this story!
