Ben & Jerry’s Might Make Weed Infused Ice Cream

Normally the Ben & Jerry’s comes after the greens, not before…and after. But that’s all about to change.

Ice cream magicians and company founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield stated in an interview with HuffPost Live with Alyona Minkovski that they were game to create an ice cream flavor that included cannabis. Now that marijuana is legal for medicinal and recreational use in Colorado, Washington, Oregon , Alaska and D.C. chances are the market for edibles will blow open – and why not go with a trusted brand? Ben & Jerry’s has already been the unofficial best buddy of marijuana for years.

Also, Colorado sold nearly five million edibles last year.

“Makes sense to me,” said Cohen about the idea. “Combine your pleasures.” Seems pretty dangerous though: the more you eat, the worse the munchies, the more you eat… you get the idea.

“Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances,” added Greenfield. “I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing, rather than putting people in jail for not hurting anyone.”

However, you might need to wait a little longer for your tasty THC version of Cherry Garcia. Since Ben and Jerry technically sold the company to Unilever in 2001 it’s no longer entirely up to them.

Can’t wait? Why not start dreaming up some names for your favorite future B&J flavor, and comment your suggestions below.
