How often do you do it? Once a day? Twice a day? Do you do it alone or with a partner? Are you silent during it or do you sing? And how much is too much? We’re talking, of course, about showering.
There’s been an awful lot of talk this week about hygiene habits. It started with this BuzzFeed article that calls out Americans for bathing too frequently, partially as a result of being a clean-freak culture as well as falling too easily for good advertising. While it’s true that in the States we take our bath time more seriously than in other nations, is it really a bad thing?
Glee actress and frequently opinionated Naya Rivera goes further than that, saying that showering daily is specifically a “white people thing.”
Citing a dermatological study, Rivera states that people should only shower 1-2 times every 3 days. Do you fall into this healthy category, or are you an over-frequent showerer?
Rivera’s claim might sound grimy, but she does have some proof. Showering too much dehydrates your skin, causing it to lose its natural radiance and smoothness.
So we’re asking: how often is too often?
