I don’t know about you, but I am a bloater. One bad meal, alcohol beverage, or any kind of sugar, and my body reacts immediately! Then Summer hits….Dat heat tho guuuurrrlll! I can be eating clean and take a walk to the mailbox and boom: my hands look like summer sausages and my body looks like a busted can of biscuits with a tank top over it! The medical term is “inflammation” but we call it BLOAT. I have done so much research and found some great info that can help prevent this. Starting with diet. Check out these 5 foods you need in your anti-bloat arsenal.

1. Water with Lemon.

This one is so obvious BUT do you know why? Lemon is a natural diuretic. When bloating occurs, it’s your body’s way of not dehydrating. Add water to this and BOOM! Starting your morning with warm lemon water and floating lemon in your water throughout the day will help!!

2. Peanut Butter

That’s right!! My fave food EVA! That creamy goodness contains Niacin which aids in natural digestion. Try to go for the all natural PB’s that don’t add excess sugars and fats. In moderation, this is a great choice. Pair it with an apple (which will give you extra fiber) and you are on your way!

3. Grapes

I always thought grapes were too high in natural sugars so I avoided them. I had no idea that they were high in fiber and were considered natural laxatives! They aid in digestion and if you have a sensitive stomach (like me) they can help with tummy troubles! WIN

4. Melon

Especially watermelon and cantaloupe! These are both diuretic fruits and, due to the high water content, can be easily digested! Plus, watermelon weighs in at only 100 cals per slice; eaten after a meal is the perfect time!!

5. Ginger

Sometimes I feel like ginger is gross; other times I love it! It’s all in the prep! Ginger is a natural metabolic booster that packs a punch to the gut! It helps the body break down foods and is also a natural energy booster. I like to use a micro plane, grate a little in my smoothies and, of course, you always want to add it at your local juice bar!

Try these foods in your diet and see that belly bloat release!!
